AQIP Projects
2008 – 2009 Action Projects
1. Foundations of Excellence: MATC Common Learning Goals, Core Values and Abilities
AQIP Category: Helping Students Learn
This project will develop common learning goals and objectives to enhance the first year experience for students. The project will identify core values, analyze the current learning environment, and find appropriate measures to assess how our students know what we want them to know.
2. Process Mapping of Retention Systems
AQIP Category: Measuring Effectiveness
The goal of this project is to create a process map that details the current college systems related to student retention. By developing this map, stakeholders from all areas of the college will analyze their role in retention. With the completed map, the many departments, divisions and individuals that contribute to student retention will be able to identify their role in the process as well as any data needs related to the systems, leading to informed decision making and improved processes for student retention.
3. Develop an Internal Communication Process
AQIP Category: Leading and Communicating
This project will expand on previous work done on strategic planning. The goal is to establish a flexible internal communications network that leads to a more flexible and responsive external communication network.
2007 – 2008 Action Projects
1. Developing a Quality Review Process for the Student Services Division
AQIP Category: Measuring Effectiveness
This project expanded on previous work done on “Building a Center of Excellence in Student Services,” especially process mapping, to create a strategic plan for the division. This led to a scorecard to: identify indicators of performance; establish threshold and target performance values; and identify tools needed to measure performance.
2. Evaluate and Enhance Shared Decision Making to Create a Collaborative Community
AQIP Category: Valuing People
The project worked to create a quality culture where decision making is done closer to the processes where improvements would occur, and to enhance buy-in for implementing decisions.
3. Assess, Review and Create an Improvement Plan for Student Advising
AQIP Category: Helping Students Learn
With the assistance of a NACADA consultant and MATC’s research department, this project reviewed and assessed the tools and resources that encourage student initiation of and participation in advising; faculty participation in advisor training; the access to and use of applicable electronic resources; specific advising roles across the college, and the communication process among all stakeholders.
4. Establishing the Foundations of Excellence (FOE) for student success at MATC
AQIP Category: Helping Students Learn
The goal of this project was to conduct the analysis as laid out by the Policy Center, providing a data-rich platform on which to make changes leading to more effective activities and initiatives to enrich the educational experience of our first-year students leading to greater success in college.
2006 – 2007 Action Projects
1. Establishing Foundations for College Success
AQIP Category: Helping Students Learn
The goal of this action project was to develop a pilot designed to increase academic achievement and student success among academically disadvantaged learners who matriculate into college programs.
2. Enhance the College’s Program Evaluation Processes
AQIP Category: Helping Students Learn
Program review indicators, thresholds, target values, and reports for the state-wide Quality Review Process (QRP) were reviewed and revised to reflect MATC’s significant measures of program success.
3. Develop student-centered training for Student Services in the Enrollment Process
AQIP Category: Understanding Students' and Other Stakeholders' Need
This project helped employees create a service culture, enhanced current service communication skills, and solved problems encountered during peak times more efficiently and effectively. Training materials were developed, and sessions on customer service, focusing first on the college’s Student Services Division, were held.
4. Leading and Communicating for Performance Excellence
AQIP Category: Leading and Communicating
