Look in the Blackboard folder marked Due Dates to
make sure you know when the exam is available. This
exam will consist of 50 questions and is worth 200 points total. The exam
covers all 5 units in this class. The exam itself can be found in the same
folder you found the unit tests (administered online through blackboard using
the Respondus LockDown Browser). There will be a
1½ hour time limit. As an aid
you may use five (8½" x 11") sheets of hand written
notes (both sides). Concentrate on the central ideas.
I suggest you look over all your unit tests as a great way to
review for the exam. To review your tests on blackboard, you
need to use the LockDown browser. Go to My Grades,
then click on the test number (ex, Test 3 - Requires LockDown Browser) ... and
then click on the score that appears on the right.
The final exam requires an ID check!
This means prior to taking the exam, a responsible individual will check your
identity. No one will be breathing down your neck ... only
performing an ID check as well as making sure you are taking the exam alone with
your notes. You may take the exam one of the following ways:
Option 1: Take the exam with me during a video conference. This requires us to schedule a mutually agreeable time. Here is how this works best: You will need a smart phone and using that, we Skype or do a Google Hangout video call. I will ask you to show your ID and your 5 sheets of notes ... and you take the exam (on your home computer the same way as the unit tests) with the phone camera on you off to the side a few yards away. It is as if you were in a classroom doing the same thing.
Option 2: Go to the MATC South (Oak Creek) Campus Academic Support Center (A208) in the exam period (during their normal hours of operation). Click here for their hours of operation. A valid MATC Stormer ID Card may be needed for entry (call if you do not have one). However, you must have a valid form of identification with you with your picture on it. When you arrive at the academic support center, please make sure you first check in with a staff person with this form. Make sure you witness a staff person sign and file this form. I can not accept your score if I do not receive this form.
Option 3: Provide your own proctor at another school. The proctor must be either an off-campus library or another educational institution. NOTE: Do NOT go to any of the MATC libraries ... they do NOT proctor exams. Traditionally, other colleges offer this service if contacted in advance. A fee may be applied. Please bring a valid picture ID. They must have reliable access to the internet and the Respondus LockDown Browser installed on their computers. Complete this form. Please provide an envelope with sufficient postage. Address the envelope to: Jim Mihal, MATC South Campus (mailbox #206), 6665 S. Howell Ave, Oak Creek WI 53154. Give the completed form and envelope to your proctor for mailing. Please make sure I receive the completed form before the end of the semester since I can not accept your score without it.
Option 4: Same as the last option except the institution does NOT have the LockDown Browser installed. Bring your own laptop to the institution with the LockDown Browser installed. The institution must be willing to proctor the exam and provide reliable and accessible WiFi .
Option 5: Other acceptable proctors - responsible individuals:
v College or University personnel: Dean, Department Chair, Registrar, Professional Staff Member of an adult/continuing education office or counseling center; Librarian, Professor
v Public or Private School personnel: Superintendent, Principal, Guidance Counselor, Librarian, Teacher
v Other: Civil Service Examiner, Notary Public, Librarian for city/county, Police Officer, Lawyer, Certified public accountant (CPA), Military Officer, Clergy (minister, priest, bishop, elder, rabbi, imam, nun, monk, etc ... but no "internet clergy" please)
NOTE: relatives, regardless of their position, are not permitted to be proctors
You will need to arrange for a computer with the LockDown browser installed. The exam may be taken any place acceptable to you and your proctor.
Option 6: If you are unable to comply with any of the options above, call me (262) 751-6465 at least one week before you plan to take the exam so we can arrange an appropriate solution.
