My name is Jim Mihal and I've been an MATC instructor since 1976. I retired as a fulltime MATC instructor in May 2006 and have since put most of my efforts in improving this class.
Other classes I taught in the past were Astronomy and Earth Science. I have undergraduate (BS) degrees in Math and Physics from UW (go Badgers!) and a MS from UWM in education.
My hobbies include traveling, camping, hiking, biking (the kind you have to peddle), sheepshead, star gazing, playing around with computers, family and friends, and learning about the world around me.
I have always had a curiosity about things and devices. Ever since I was young I was always tearing apart objects to see what made them tick. I still do! Over a lunch table in 2000, a fellow instructor (John) argued that our natural science department did not have any practical courses for their particular program. He suggested we offer a course on how things we use in our everyday lives work. I agreed 100% and after many, many hours of work ... this class came into being.
I'm still learning and improving this class. As always, please feel free to email me or call my cell phone anytime you have a question, problem, or concern about this class.
Jim
