  1. Compare and contrast the functions of the male and female reproductive systems.

  2. Compare and contrast meiosis in spematogenesis and in oogenesis.

  3. What are the roles of FSH and LH in the male reproductive system? How is the creation of the hormones controlled? How is the blood level of testosterone controlled?

  4. Describe the role of hormones (list and function) in the female ovarian and uterine (menstrual) cycles.

  5. Prepare a table in which are listed the six main bacterial and viral causes of sexually transmitted diseases, their symptoms, fetal effects, treatments (can the disease be cured), complications, and preventive measures.

  6. Understanding the causes of infertility can be a valuable tool in developing a new birth control method. Cite a type of contraceptive based on each of the following causes of infertility: (a) failure to ovulate during a hormonal cycle; (b) a large fibroid tumor that disturbs the uterine lining; (c) endometrial tissue blocking uterine tubes; (d) low sperm count (too few sperm per ejaculate).
